Buyers often ask for “the biggest servo.” The useful question is how many cavities of this cup fit, and whether the draw depth is 120, 150, or 180 mm. Area figures below are the same numbers published on the machine pages.
Platen, depth, and speed
| Model | Forming area | Max depth | Speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| FS-7836 | 780 × 360 mm | 120 mm | 40–50 cpm |
| FS-7842 | 780 × 420 mm | 150 mm | 40–50 cpm |
| FS-7856 | 780 × 560 mm | 150 mm | 40–50 cpm |
| FS-8556 | 850 × 560 mm | 180 mm | 40–50 cpm |
| FS-8560 | 850 × 600 mm | 180 mm | 40–50 cpm |
Hydraulic LS machines use the same area rule from the model code, at 25–38 cpm. A 780×360 mm LS is still a 120 mm draw. Buying hydraulic does not add depth.
Worked layout — 75 mm rim, 90 mm pitch
Along 780 mm you can place 8 pitches; along 360 mm only 4. The ceiling is 32 cavities, and only if clamps and water circuits still fit. A 110 mm food bowl at 130 mm pitch drops to about 5 × 2 on FS-7836. That is when FS-8560 (about 6 × 4) earns its floor space. Send the drawing before anyone locks a model.
What to decide before the mold is cut
- Rim diameter, height, and draft — depth class is 120, 150, or 180 mm.
- Pitch including the skeleton web, not the rim alone.
- Whether year-one speed is 30 cpm. Use cups per hour, not the brochure 50.
- One cavity family or three cup sizes. Extra sizes need pitch that shares a platen.
Send with the drawing
- Cup section: rim, height, wall, stack shoulder
- Resin and target grams
- Good cups per month and staffed hours
- Sizes that must share one machine
- Maximum draw you will actually sell
Frequently asked questions
Does a bigger platen always mean more cups per hour?
No. Pitch, cooling, and the real cycle — often 28–35 cpm in year one — cap output before the nameplate area does.
What depth can FS-7836 form?
120 mm. FS-7842 and FS-7856 are 150 mm. FS-8556 and FS-8560 are 180 mm because the platen is at least 850×560 mm.
How much edge margin should I leave?
Keep roughly 15–25 mm outside the outer cavities for clamps and sheet tracking. Do not draw cavities to the steel edge.
Can one mold family run on two machine sizes?
Only if the smaller platen still contains the cavity block and the clamp pattern matches. Do not assume FS-8560 tooling drops onto FS-7836.
